Previous article Next articleA small User Defined Tag that can be used to create clickable call-me links of telephone numbers when the website is opened in a mobile web browser. After clicking the link it first opens a pop-up box asking for confirmation, to prevent accidental phone calls.
It uses Open Source Mobile Browser Detection code.
How to use
Create a User Defined Tag named phone and with the content:

You add the tag including the required number and linktext parameters in the page or template like:
{phone number='0123456789'}
{phone number='0123456789' linktext='Call me!'}
It will just display the telephone number on desktop computers (012-3456789) and
make clickable links on mobile browsers (012-3456789). It will also open a pop-up box asking for confirmation, to prevent accidental phone calls.

I can think of several reasons to use this.
When watching the page with a desktop computer there is no need for the link... The WYSIWYG editor will strip the JavaScript code from the link when added in the page and this tag is much easier for end-users...
But the choice is yours ;)

And you can also add this tag in i.e. a Company Directory template like:
